Junior and Senior Prom '09

Days are passing by really quickly since our senior year. I didn't almost notice that it was already the time for our Prom. Well, we already rehearsed (Yup. Our Prom is like that. A program with a few rehearsed numbers before we actually eat and party.) and picked each of our barongs and long gowns so I guess we're already prepared. The program started at 8 pm, i think.

The traditional entrance is at the main entrance of the gymnasium but this time was different. We entered by the entrance leading to the side of the stage. The routine goes like this: the couple will move up the steps towards the center of the stage then come down through the arranged platforms then pose for a while because of the cameramen that are waiting just there then the couple can go to their desired seats. Me and my partner Claudine sat with Clark, Roxanne, Rubio, Robin, Danna and Joy.

All the dances are finally over. It's time to eat. Yay! I was really starving that time cause I haven't eaten yet and it's already 9 or 10? The dishes were plenty. I forgot some of them. What I can remember are those delicious baked macaroni and brownies(with other more bite-size dessets.). While we're eating the lights suddenly went out and music started playing. After finished what they're eating, some students went backstage we're there are arranged studios waiting for couples who would like to take pictures, some just went dancing while some just stayed at their seats. Then the lights went on again. It's time to give the awards for Prom King, Prom Queen, Prom Prince, Prom Princess, Dancing King, Dancing Queen, Dancing Prince and Dancing Princess. Respectively, the awards were given to Patrick, Marian, Edenton, Ysa, Robin, Christine, Patrick(3rd Year), and Regine. After they were awarded, the audience started leaving.
Now I could get my hands on those brownies, I thought. So I ate more, what? The lights are off anyways. They barely noticed me. It's not like it's just me. I also saw some that ate more.

We spent that whole night dancing and taking pictures. At about 3 or 4 am(Maybe 2) , we left and went to NiƱa's house. We were supposed to stay the night the there but there had been a change of plans so we went to Fatima's. Last year, I was so awake but this time, I sank to their sofa. I just fell asleep instantly. We were supposed to have a movie marathon but some are already asleep while some are already drinking. I chose sleeping :)

Here are the pictures:

We're wide awake, and it's morning. Everyone was quiet at first then some laughs after Robin removed Charmine's hairpin then some hair fell off. It turned out that her bun we're almost completely made up of fake hair. After having breakfast, someone suggested a trip to malinaw. Everyone agreed and the next thing we knew, we were already there despite of having a wild night, we had another fun afternoon in malinaw. For those who don't know it's like a stream turned into, like, a resort. I'll find some pictures soon.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day

Weird. I totally forgot it was this time of the year until I read my 16 messages of Happy Valentine's Day. But what really caught my attention was the reminder on my phone exactly at 12 pm saying, "Valentine's Day! Make a move..." That was such a surprise. I didn't know who put it in my phone but I appreciated it. It's greater than a Happy Valentine greeting. Unfortunately, I won't be making any move. My life is still concentrated on many things like college. I guess I don't have the time for love or anything right now. Some moments would be great but I'm not quite up to it for the time being. Another thing is that she's not ready yet. So... I guess, me liking her is the story line right now.

Here's a little background (for a little touch of Jiru) about Valentine's Day:

Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The day was originally a pagan festival that was renamed after two Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Cahucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines." Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards. The sending of Valentines was a fashion in nineteenth-century Great Britain, and, in 1847, Esther Howland developed a successful business in her Worcester, Massachusetts home with hand-made Valentine cards based on British models. The popularity of Valentine cards in 19th-century America was a harbinger of the future commercialization of holidays in the United States. The U.S.Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year, behind Christmas. The association estimates that, in the US, men spend in average twice as much money as women.

That's the gist of it. Until next time!
