OTH Recap - Racing Like A Pro(Season 5 Episode 2)

Brooke goes to surprise Lucas but he finds his girlfriend, Lindsey, in his bed.
Meanwhile, it's Haley's first day as a teacher. She's pretty nervous and excited. Unfortunately a disrespectful student named Quentin, verbally harasses her so much that she just couldn't take it anymore. She runs out in tears and Principal Turner had to fill in for her. Quentin is actually a really great basketball player and Haley told Lucas what happened in Quentin eventually didn't get into the team, though.

Big news. Skills tells Jamie about a soap box competition. Jamie decides that he wants to compete. Lucas, Skills and the other guys help him. Everyone but the person Jamie wants to seek help from. His daddy, Nate, who is still drowning in alcohol and self-pity. Lucas and Skills run a test race and the mannequin's head fall off. He tells Brooke that he wants to paint it blue and have the number 23 on it but Skills want to paint it red like Elmo which he doesn't like. She tells him that he has to take a stand for what you believe in or else no one is gonna hear you. Jamie wants his Daddy to see him race but Nathan tells Haley that he doesn't want anyone to see him like this. Haley tells him that Daddy doesn't feel well. When it comes time for the race, Jamie remembers about the mannequin's head and becomes scared: He doesn't want to race anymore. He tells Brooke that he's taking a stand. As soon as Haley comes back home, she is pretty upset. Haley has been battling with her husband for months in order to help him get out of his self wallowing pity self and she doesn't how long she can put up with Nate's destructive attitude. He has to change or else he will have nothing anymore.

Peyton and Brooke meet Lindsey at Tric. Peyton tells Brooke she did want to not like Lindsey but it turns out Lindsey is a great girl and Peyton can't help but admit it. Later, Lucas asks Peyton why she didn't show up Lucas' book signing day - when the two of them were supposed to meet. Peyton looks at Lucas and tells him they were not meant to be. Ouch! Lucas seems hurt and goes away.
Mouth gets a job but his boss, Alison, hates him. She tells him to quit now or she'll fired him soon. Meanwhile, Brooke decides she is going to run "Clothes Over Bros" from Tree Hill. She buys Karen's Cafe. Indeed, Karen and her daughter Lily are on a world trip.

Brooke tells Peyton to start a label. She wants to invest in her label because she believes in her BFF. And so does Lucas. He talked to his Mom: They want Peyton to have Tric. He says "Rent-free under one condition: that it becomes office space for your new label". Then, Lucas tells her to think about it. He starts get going but Goldilocks stops him and admits she did show up the signing day. And when she saw him and Lindsey together, she thought the two of them, were an item. "Which clearly you are". That night, Lucas thought Peyton didn't show up and... he and Lindsey had their first date. Anyway, enough about Lindsey. Peyton asks Lucas if he remembers when he submitted her artwork without telling her. Does he remember what he said that night when he first entered the gym? "It's like you touched my soul and a few days ago I was ready to quit again but you saved me with the words you wrote about me in your novel. So if your struggling writing the next one you should know that your art matters, Lucas. It's what got me here."

Haley enters the room and tells her students they had better listen to her if they don't want to fail the course. Quentin walks toward the door. Haley claims: "The rest of your life is being shaped right now with the dreams you chase, the choices you make and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time and the rest of your life starts right now."
In the meantime, Nathan rolls himself into the swimming pool and says, "I'm Nathan Scott; I have too much to lose." Nathan wakes up Jamie up and takes him to the race tracks.Nate tells his son there is nothing wrong about being afraid but one has to face fear. Jamie asks Nate if he is afraid. Nate says sometimes. And so is he, claims Jamie. Nathan says to his son: "Well, we'll do this together". And then, it's soap box race time!
